New guidelines for fliers amid Omicron alert in Chhattisgarh
Raipur: Chhattisgarh health authorities have alerted about the new variant ‘Omicron’ of Corona that has surfaced in Africa and European countries. Detailed guidelines have been issued in view of the threat of Omicron.
It has been stated in the guideline that every passenger coming from 12 countries at risk of infection will be screened at the airport itself. Even if the result is negative, the person would have to remain in mandatory quarantine for 7 days. The Corona test will be conducted again on the 8th day.
The health department has asked the administration of the three airport districts Raipur, Bilaspur, and Jagdalpur to set up a separate help desk at the airport. Every person coming from abroad will be screened here. All necessary information regarding Covid testing, mandatory quarantine, and vaccination will be taken here.
All the districts of the state have been asked to take information about the people coming from abroad. They will get this information from the state-level surveillance center. The district administration has to make arrangements by contacting the people included in this list. For those people who have not completed the 7-day quarantine after coming to India, the district administration will identify them and ensure the quarantine. Corona testing will be done on the 8th day. If positive, the sample will have to be sent for a genome sequencing test to identify the variant of the corona.
Meanwhile, the district administration has been asked to take measures to complete 100 per cent vaccination at the earliest. Along with this, emphasis has also been laid on getting people to follow Corona-appropriate behavior. In the next few days, the strictness regarding social distancing and masks is going to increase in the state.
