Congress MLAs Arun Vora and ShaileshPandey raised the issue of compensation not being given to the beneficiaries of the Covid-19. There is provision of providing Rs 50000 compensation in case of death due to Covid-19. MLA Shivratan Sharma said that the government should issue a general order that whose last rites have been performed under the protocol of Covid-19, they should be given the compensation.

Meanwhile, Vora said in the House that about 14000 deaths were reported in the state in Corona, but the families in more than 2000 deaths cases were waiting for the compensation amount. He said that around 3700 application were received from Raipur district for compensation and more than 3200 applications were disposed of. He said that more than 18000 applications were received in the state for compensation and more than 16000 families of the victims were distributed about Rs 80 crore compensation, but still 2000 application were pending. Vora question the reason behind such a delay.

Bilaspur city MLA Shailesh Pandey said that a total of 1714 application were from Bilaspur district of which 1599 have been disposed of while the remaining beneficiaries are doing rounds of the CMHO office. He demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. The Minister however said that there is  no need for an inquiry. Pandey and Vora said that there is anger among the people for delay in the disbursement of compensation.

The Minister said that it is not correct to say that compensation is being being given to the beneficiaries for last five months. Applications are being thoroughly examined before the approval of the compensation, said the Minister.

The Minister said that 3408 application were received from Raipur district, out of which 3288 applications were disposed of and Rs 16,44,00,000 has been distributed as compensation. 120 application were pending and they are being examined. If these applications are found authentic then compensation will be given, the Minister said. As far as Durg district is concerned, all the 3000 applications seeking compensation were disposed of, said the Minister while rejecting the claim of MLA Vora that 4000 applications from Durg district were received.

It is also not correct that more than 18000 applications were received. More than 2000 applications were pending out of over 16000 applications is also not correct. The actual fact is that 20587 applications were received out of which 19914 applications were disposed of and Rs 99,57,00,000 compensation has been distributed. 673 applications were pending which are being examined. Action on them will be taken accordingly, the Minister said.
