Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to provide direct help to landless labourer families.
About 3 lakh 55 thousand landless families of the state will be benefited
Landless families will get Rs.6000 annually
Raipur:Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi will launch a new innovative scheme of the Chhattisgarh Government to provide direct financial help to poor landless families in the state of Chhattisgarh on February 03. This important scheme, which is being started in the name of ‘Bharat Ratna’ former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi, will be known as ‘Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana’. Under this scheme, agricultural landless labourer families of rural areas will receive financial assistance of Rs.6 thousand annually from the Chhattisgarh Government. MP Rahul Gandhi will transfer the ‘first instalment’ of this scheme to landless families directly in their bank accounts in a grand program to be organized at Science College Ground in Raipur on February 03. Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country, which has implemented such an ambitious scheme for landless agricultural labourers. The Chhattisgarh Government has made a provision of Rs 200 crore for this scheme in the budget for the year 2021-22.
It is noteworthy that many labourer classes have been affected badly during the Corona period and for them MP Rahul Gandhi has been talking strongly about providing direct help from the Government to the people of weaker sections. This new scheme of the Chhattisgarh Government is in line with the intention of MP Mr.Rahul Gandhi.
Through this scheme, the agricultural labourer families will get direct help whose livelihood depends on agricultural income only. Under the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana’ in the Chhattisgarh state, about 3 lakh 55 thousand such families have been registered, who do not have agricultural land and they earn their living by wages. This is an innovative scheme of the Chhattisgarh Government to benefit landless families. There is no such scheme anywhere else in the country.
Agriculture is the livelihood for about 70 per cent of the population of the state. A large number of landless labourers are involved in the work of agriculture. Many of these are agricultural labourers who do not have their agricultural land and they earn by doing farming and labour work on others land. This scheme will prove to be helpful for landless families. Under this category, families belonging to shepherds, carpenters, blacksmiths, cobblers, barbers, washermen and priests involved in the ‘Pauni-Pasari’ system, forest produce collectors and other categories being involved from time to time will also be eligible.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first scheme of the Chhattisgarh Government to provide direct help to the needy people of the society. Even before this, the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’ was started by the state government with the aim of encouraging ‘crop productivity’ and ‘crop diversification’ in the state. Under this scheme, farmers have been given a financial grant of about Rs.10 thousand 176 crores as input subsidy since May 2020. In March, the fourth instalment of ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’ which is about Rs.1500 crores will be transferred to 22 lakh farmers of the state in their bank account.
Agriculture has become prosperous again in the state due to Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. There is a continuous increase in the number of farmers, crop area and production. In Chhattisgarh during the year 2018-19, 80.37 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured on support price, in today’s situation this figure is going to cross 1 crore metric tonnes. The number of farmers selling paddy is also increasing from 15 lakhs to over 24 lakhs in the last three years.
With the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’, agriculture and farmers have got a new strength in Chhattisgarh. In this scheme, the arrangement has been made to give an input subsidy of Rs. 9 thousand per acre to the farmers producing all the major crops of Kharif and Horticulture. To encourage the cultivation of other crops in place of paddy in the paddy growing area, there is a provision of an input subsidy of Rs.10 thousand per acre.
Another popular scheme of the Chhattisgarh Government is ‘Godhan Nyay’. Through this, cow dung is being procured at Rs. 2 per kg in the village’s gothans, which is directly benefiting two and a half lakh families. It also includes about 92 thousand landless families. So far, cow dung worth about Rs 122 crore has been purchased through ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’ using which 80 thousand women belonging to women self-help groups are preparing vermicompost and super compost and other materials. Apart from this, the women’s group has earned an income of more than Rs 52 crore so far by conducting various other income activities in Gauthans. To increase the employment opportunities and income of the people in the villages, Gauthans are being developed as ‘Rural Industrial Parks’. Units for processing agricultural and minor forest produce, oil and pulses are being established here. After the generation of electricity from cow dung, preparations are now being made to make natural paint for house-painting, so that the income of the people can increase and the Rural Economy can be improved.
