Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik on Friday said that infighting in Congress seems to be a never-ending process. People of the state have given the huge mandate to Congress by making them win 70 seats, but leaders in Congress seem to be hungry for power instead of serving people. Kaushik raised the recent development in the Congress in Bilaspur where the verbal duel between leaders of the party was at its peak.

Kaushik said that verbal duel for superiority was also going on in Surguja and in Raipur the same is going on between Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and his ministers. People have understood that the state is not safe in the hands of Congress. Farmers’ issues remain unresolved, law and order have deteriorated and development has come to standstill. Congress has pushed the state to 10 years back, Kaushik said.

Commenting on a statement made by the National OBC Commission on the non-implementation of OBC Reservation Roster, Kaushik said that the chief minister used to say that he will give 27 per cent reservation to OBC, but he failed to fulfil. The state government is busy doing politics over the OBC reservations. If there are any mistakes in the OBC roster then it should be rectified, Kaushik said.

Kaushik said that OBC reservation is not a political issue for BJP. When there was talk of ending the reservation of SC-ST, the central government decided to continue it, Kaushik said.

Kaushik said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given constitutional status to OBCs and granted rights to the state to take care of those who want to come under the OBC caste. The states have the right to exercise their power for the development of the community, but now work is being done by Chhattisgarh. The OBC community is fighting for the rights, he said.

On elephant-human conflict, Kaushik said that the problem of elephants is beyond the control of the government. There was talk of feeding paddy to elephants, now people are being blamed. The government is committing corruption in the name of elephant.

On the death of Pando tribe, Kaushik said that the investigation of the Opposition is going on. “Our leaders are visiting to the tribe continuously to find out the reasons. Health facilities should reach the people of the tribe,” he said.
