Health dept issues detailed guidelines for quality delivery services and identification and management of high risk pregnancies

Raipur: State health
department has issued detailed guidelines regarding necessary precautions to
improve maternal health and child health and to strengthen delivery-related
services to reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality and for
identification and proper management of women with high-risk pregnancies.

Welfare Director Dr. Priyanka Shukla has issued a circular to the Collectors
and Chief Medical and Health Officers of all the districts asking them to follow
the guidelines issued in this regard. Detailed guidelines have been given in
the circular for registration of all pregnant women in the first trimester,
quality antenatal check-ups, detailed health check-ups, identification, and
management of high-risk pregnancies.

The Health Department
has asked the collectors to review the implementation of these guidelines at
the district level and establish necessary coordination between the Department
of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Women and Child Development
in relation to malnourished, severely malnourished high-risk women and to take
care of the nutrition of such women. The department has taken necessary action to
make available the assistance given by various departments to every pregnant
woman in time. Besides, directions have been given to make arrangements for
necessary resources including Emergency Obstetric Care, C-section, and Blood in
identified health institutions.
