Days after BJYM and BJP workers showed black flag to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Raipur on February 3, Congress workers and leaders showed black flag to Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on VIP Road in Raipur on Saturday. However, a scuffle took place when BJP workers, including former minister Rajesh Munat, tried to prevent the Congressmen from doing so. Several BJP workers, including Munat, were detained following the incident. Rajesh Munat was reportedly slapped in the Vidhan Sabha police station and hearing the same, hundreds of BJP workers reached the police station, creating chaos in the police station.


Scindia was escorted by BJP workers in a bike rally. As Congress workers were preparing to show black flags to Scindia near Mana-VIP Road, a clash broke out between the leaders of both the parties over this issue. It was learnt that some Congress leaders were beaten up by the BJP workers. However, no official complaint has been made about this assault so far.


The policemen deployed on VIP Road immediately intervened and dispersed both groups. After some time, BJP leader Munat reached with his supporters and told City SP Tarkeswar Patel created ruckus that lasted for about one and a half hours.

 

Police took former minister Munat into custody.

It is said that a Congress worker has been thrashed by Munat and a BJP worker in front of the house of Minister Guru Rudra Kumar. When the policemen surrounded Munat, he apologized on behalf of BJP workers, but later he got angry and abused the Congress workers.

 Munat alleged police of wrong action

Former minister Rajesh Munat said that the police have taken action against him wrongfully. Police have taken him and party workers into custody. Munat said that he was taken to different police stations, first he was taken to the Civil Lines police station and later he was taken to the Vidhan Sabha police station.
