Five Naxalites, including two women cares, killed
Raipur:In a major blow to Left Wing Extremism (LWE), five outlaws, including two women cadres, were nutralised in a fierce encounters at two different locations across the Bastar region on Tuesday.
While one woman Naxal was gunned down by the security forces in the forest areas of Marjumand Pratapgiri (the bordering areas of Dantewada and Sukma districts), four others including a woman cadre were killed in hilly areas of Perur, Ilmidi and Usoor, the bordering areas of Chhattisgarh and Telangana states. The battle on forested patch between Marjum and Pratapgiri took place between Naxals and District Reserve Guard while in Perur, Ilmidiand Usoor it occurred between Naxals and Greyhounds, according to police.
The woman cadre, who was killed in Marjumand Pratapgiri forests, was identified as Area Committee Member Munni while identity of other four slain Naxals could not be ascertained. One Greyhound trooper was said to have injured in exchange of fire and he was airlifted to a hospital in Warangal district of Telangana.
Based on the inputs about presence of nearly two dozens of Naxals including Darbha DVCM Manglu, Katekalyan Area Committee member Mahangu, Munni and Pradeep in Morena, Junapani, Jaimer, Nandel, Dongri, Marjum and Dhurvaparam, an anti-Naxal operation was launched in the area. During the operation, an encounter took place between DRG team and Maoists in the forest and hills of Marjum falling under Katekalyan police station limits and Pratapgiri falling under Tongpal police station limits. After the encounter, the body of a woman Naxal Munni was recovered during the search.
In another incident, based on information about presence of 40 to 50 Naxals including Telangana State Committee senior Maoist leader Sudhakar DVCM, Venkatapuram ACM and other armed Naxals in Perur, Ilmidi and Usoorforests, Grey Hounds personnel left from Telangana while a joint team of DRG and Central Reserve Police Force was dispatched from Bijapur for search operation.
Security personnel searched area and recovered bodies of four slain Naxals. Search operation was continuing till filing this report.
