Finance Department orders to stop deduction of 10 per cent from salary of government employees, effective from April 1

Raipur: Chhattisgarh government has stopped deduction of 10 per cent from the salary of state government employees as part of the restoration of old pension scheme, with effect from April 1. It is to be mentioned, 10 per cent from the salary of the government employees was being deducted under the new pension scheme imposed in 2004.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced in the Budget Session of the Assembly in March this year that his government is going to restore the old pension scheme, bringing cheer on the faces of lakhs of employees of the state. An order to this effect was issued by the state government in April 8, 2022. 

The Finance Department of Chhattisgarh Government issued the order to all the heads of departments asking them to implement the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for the employees of the state appointed on and after November 1, 2004. Out of this, the deduction of 10 percent has been done away with. Along with this, a minimum 12 percent of the basic salary will be deducted from the salary of the employees for the month of April as per the General Provident Fund rules.
