Father, 3 Pastors arrested on charge  of indulging in conversion of Hindu people

Jashpur:Four persons, including a Father and three Pastors, were arrested by Bagicha police in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh on the charge of persuading innocent tribals for conversion. They invited the tribals on the pretext of a healing meeting to allegedly persuade them for conversion.

According to police, the accused were have been identified as Father Arun Kujur, and pastors Basant Lakra, Salmon Tigga and Dino Kujur. All of them was booked under sections 295 (A) and 34 of Indian Penal Code besides Section 4 of the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2006.

Acting on the information of one Hari and other villagers that Hindu people are being influenced for conversion, police swung into action and  caught the accused in Sukhbasupara of Gram Panchayat Pasia. People of Nagvanshi caste belonging to Hindu religion were invited to the healing meeting to the residence of one Dilip Kumar Nagvanshi for meeting. 

President of Nagvanshi Samaj Laku Ram, Jantu Ram NagvanshiKunwar Ram Nagvanshi and others also reached house of Dilip Nagvanshi and saw about 50 people including women and children were sitting in the courtyard and talking about adopting Christianity. When enquired, four people present were identified as Arun KujurBasant Lakda, Salmon Tigga and Dino Kujur.

 

 

Matter was reported to police and subsequently a team of police personnel reached the spot and took the accused in custody.

 

Police said that a team of police reached the spot and arrested the accused. It was said that this act was being practiced since many years.
