Durg District Panchayat member booked under Section 307 of the IPC.
A TV journalist fell unconscious after sustaining multiple injuries on his head and other parts of the body in an attack allegedly by a BJP leader in Amleshwar police station area of Durg district on Friday. The injured journalist identified as Dhirendra Giri Goswami was admitted to a hospital.
District panchayat member from Amleshwar area of Patan constituency in Durg has been booked under Section 307 of the IPC in this case.
According to Amleshwar Thana In-charge Gopal Vaishya, the incident took place around 11.30 pm on Thursday. Journalist saw that one Monu Sahu and his aides were molesting the wife of one Ratnakar. When the journalist opposed the miscreants, they in turn attacked him.
Reason behind attack
According to information, it all started from the quarrel between children. Monu Sahu’s family was involved in the quarrel. When the journalist intervened to solve the matter, he was attacked. In protest against the incident, a number of journalist reached the police station following which police arrested Monu Sahu. ASP (Rural) Anant Sahu was also present on the occasion.
I have done nothing
Monu Sahu told police that he was unaware about the incident. He told police that children of two families first entered into quarrel followed involvement of women members of the families. So many people were present there and he had no idea what happened. However, journalists present on the occasion demanded FIR against Monu Sahu.
