CM reviews law & order situation of Kawardha, asks officials to identify the troubled elements seen in the video and take strict action

Raipur: Five days after communal clash erupted in Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reviewed the situation in the riot-hit district on Friday late evening. Baghel, who had been camping in Uttar Pradesh along with former AICC  president Rahul Gandhi, reviewed the law and order situation in Kawardha in a high level meeting held at his official residence.

Baghel directed the Collector and SP to investigate the incident occurred during the rally taken out on October 5 in Kawardha and take strict action against the culprits. Attempts to disturb peace and social harmony will not be tolerated, the Chief Minister told the officials and directed the officers to continuously review the law and order situation, carry out continuous patrolling in sensitive areas of the city, keep a vigil on the unruly elements and hold peace committee meetings from time to time. Baghel asked the IG to identify the miscreants seen in the video and take strict action against them.

The Home Minister said that people coming from outside in Kawardha during this incident should be identified.

Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said that there has always been harmony and brotherhood among the people of all communities in Kawardha. He also pointed fingers towards outsiders behind the violence on October 3. He said that CCTVs have been installed at major places including religious places of Kawardha. The people involved in the nuisance should be identified through the footage.

Kawardha Collector said that the situation in Kawardha city was under control. A meeting of heads of various communities, Kawardha Chamber of Commerce was held on September 7. All the organisations condemned the incident and assured support in maintaining peace.
