CM Bhupesh Baghel order Collectors for necessary arrangements to protect paddy at procurement centre in view rain forecast

Raipur The Chief Minister Bhupesh has directed all District Collectors to make necessary arrangements for the upkeep and better security of paddy at procurement centres, considering the possibility of rain. The directive comes amid ongoing paddy procurement in the state since November 1. Emphasizing the procurement of paddy at support prices, the Chief Minister has urged for essential arrangements such as covering the rice stock, ensuring drainage, and focusing on the convenience of farmers at the procurement centers to protect the rice from rain. The CM also instructed the District Collectors to inspect the procurement centers to ensure safety measures and prompt arrangements wherever necessary. The Chief Minister highlighted the potential for rain in Chhattisgarh as forecasted by the meteorological department in the upcoming days. With over 9 lakh tons of rice in procurement centers across the state, he urged all districts to ensure the safe storage of rice through committees and at the procurement centers. Additionally, Bhupesh stressed the mandatory need for rice procurement centers to have facilities like covering the rice stock with caps and tarpaulins, proper drainage, and avoiding water accumulation in the yards. Collectors visiting the procurement centers were instructed to ensure the presence of these facilities. Regarding the weather department’s forecasts, there are expectations of rain in various parts of the state in the coming days. Some regions in Madhya Pradesh have already experienced rainfall since Sunday night, and Chhattisgarh could also witness rain.
