Chief Minister unveils statue of freedom fighter and mass leader Late Bisahu Das Mahant

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday unveiled the statue of freedom fighter and popular mass leader Late Bisahu Das Mahant in Sakti municipality of Janjgir-Champa district. Unveiling the statue on the occasion of 98th birth anniversary of Late Bisahu Das Mahant, Bhupesh Baghel said that he was a popular mass leader who served as cabinet minister of Madhya Pradesh four times and president of the State Congress Committee. The people of the state will always remember his incomparable contributions and work.

Hailing from a farmers’ family, Late Shri Bisahu Das Mahant worked for the development of agriculture, irrigation and roads. He not only understood the importance of irrigation and roads, but also took a far-sighted decision to embody his vision. Late Shri Bisahu Das Mahant dreamed of construction of Bango Dam to collect the unfathomable water of the Hasdeo River, which was later turned into reality. He also dreamed of a separate Chhattisgarh state. Late Bisahu Das ji, believed in ‘simple living and high thinking’. His exemplary leadership skill is an ideal for all.
