Chhattisgarh herbal brand gaining popularity in domestic and international markets

Raipur: Products of “Chhattisgarh Herbals” brand are gaining popularity in the domestic and the international markets. Chhattisgarh Herbals products are also available for sale on major online business platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. Now, all the departments of Chhattisgarh Government will be provided a 10 per cent discount on the purchase of Herbals brand products.

As per the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, all the departments of state government, government undertakings and municipal corporations will be provided the benefit of this discount on all the products of Chhattisgarh Herbal. This would further promote the sale of these products in the state.

It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh Herbal brand products worth Rs 1.25 crore were sold in the year 2019-20. Likewise, sales of these products worth Rs 2.15 crore were recorded in the year 2020-2, and now, in the first 9 months of the year 2021-22, products worth Rs 4.34 crore have been sold in the national and the international markets. Online platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart, and outlets such as Shree Dhanwantri Generic Medical Stores, CSC network of rural e-stores have helped in creating a market for Chhattisgarh Herbals in rural and urban areas of different states in the country.

Many products of Chhattisgarh Herbals have established their own identity in the national and international market. More than 150 products including cereals, indigenous spices, cookies, personal care items and forest produce are being sold through State Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Societies. 30 Sanjeevani Kendras have been started in all the districts of the state, where herbal brand products are being sold. 

There is a good demand for Chhattisgarh’s herbal products in the foreign countries as well. Number of orders received from abroad is increasing significantly. Products of Brand ‘Chhattisgarh Herbals’ have been featured in various prestigious events such as International Gulf Food Festival in Dubai, International Food Festival and Tribal Festival in Delhi, International Herbal Fair in Bhopal, Diwali Haat Mela, Rajyotsav and Mall Exhibitions. 

Products of Chhattisgarh Herbal Brand are manufactured from the forest produce collected by tribal women from the forests of Chhattisgarh. This brand was launched with an aim of social and economic upliftment of tribals and other forest dwellers. Herbal products include Bhringraj Oil, Neem Oil, Herbal Soap, Chyawanprash, Pure Honey, Sanitizer, Herbal Havan Ingredients, Seed Oil, Amla Juice, Bael Sherbet, Jamun Juice, Mahua RTS, Mahua Squash, Herbal Coffee, Amla Lachha, Achaar, digestives, Candy, Bael Murabba, Chai are available under this brand, along with various other products such as Mahua Laddu, Jam, Cookies, Pickles, Chikki, Chunks and Tamarind Bricks, Candy, Kaunchpak, Tamarind Sauce and Jamun Chips, Masala Jaggery Powder and Ayurveda Churna.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, new strategies were adopted to launch the herbal products made from forest produce of Chhattisgarh in the global market. Availability of these products was also ensured on platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. However, the major credit of the success of Chhattisgarh Herbal goes to the women in rural areas, who collected forest produce, helped in manufacturing of the products and played a key role in their packaging.
