Chhattisgarh Health Minister T S Singhdeo writes to Union Health Minister demanding Genome Sequencing Testing facility for CG
Raipur:Chhattisgarh Health Minister T S Singhdeo on Wednesday shot a letter to Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya seeking Genome Sequencing testing facility for the state at the earliest, so that the state government can control and treat the new variant of Covid-19 efectively. Singhdeo mentioned in the letter that the new variant of covid-19 ‘Omicron’ and its changing nature has become a global concern and India is no exception to this.
In most states of the country, news of increasing infection of new variant of Covid is continuously being reported. Since Chhattisgarh is surrounded by the borders of many states, this state is more prone to the new variant of the pandemic, said Singhdeo in his letter to the Union Health Minister.
Singhdeo drew notice of the Health Minister towards in availability of Genome Sequencing testing facility in Chhattisgarh to detect the changing nature of corona. As a result, samples from Chhattisgarh are being sent to Odisha for Genome Sequencing report leading to delay in identifying the symptoms and accordingly in treating the same, said Singhdeo in the letter. By the time reports are received from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, cases in Chhattisgarh are multiplying.
Singhdeo has further written that keeping in view the prevailing conditions in Chhattisgarh, the Union Minister can order to start Genome Sequencing testing facility in AIIMS Raipur with immediate effect.
Besides, Singhdeo urged for financial and technical support to start the facility of Genome Sequencing test in the Government Medical College located in Raipur.
Singhdeo urged the Union Minister for prompt on such a sensitive issue directly related to public health.
