Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel lashes out at EC for being ‘biased’

Raipur:Apparently an upset Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel lashed out at Election Commission alleging the commission of adopting biased character as far as it comes to taking action against political leaders engaged in election campaigning.

Day after a first information report was filed against Baghel in Noida for alleged violation of election code and Covid protocols, Baghel on Monday questioned the role of the Election Commission in this case case. Baghel, who is also a senior AICC observer for Uttar Pradesh elections, has been booked for alleged violation of Covid protocols during election campaigning on Sunday.

The role of the Election Commission should be unbiased, said Baghel while talking to media. When the action of the Election Commission remains biased from the beginning of the election process then how could they expect a fair elections ahead, said the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister while talking to media in UP on Monday.

Baghel further said that a district president, a candidate, around 20 security personnel and personnel from UP Police were present with him during the campaigning. Why only me? questioned Baghel on the FIR filed against him in Noida. There were so many people, but he was targeted, said Baghel. He also cited Amroha campaigning where BJP candidate was seen indulging in violation of Covid protocols and model code, but no action was taken in this case, said Baghel.

“If the Election Commission has problems in my campaigning then it should show us the path. We will follow the Election Commission’s instructions,” said Baghel while expressing dissatisfaction over the EC action.
