Chancellor Anusuiya Uikey appoints Dr. Chandel as Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Governor and Chancellor Anusuiya Uikey has appointed Dr. Girish Chandel, Head of Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Department,  Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur as the Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. 

This appointment has been made in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 14 of the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University Act, 1987 (No. 20 of 1987). An order in this regard was issued today.

Meanwhile, Dr. Girish Chandel is an eminent biotechnology scientist of the country. Dr. Chandel, a native of village-Kukra Chunda, Simga, Hathband, Chhattisgarh, has 30 years of experience in agricultural education, research and expansion management, including 07 years of experience in developing state-of-the-art infrastructure especially for research on drought and nutrition. Dr. Chandel has a vast experience of internation-level R&D work. He did his PhD in International Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center and has worked as a visiting scientist at the International Rice Research Institute.
