CG govt to establish state's first Food Irradiation Park

Raipur:
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has given his principle consent for the
establishment of a Food Irradiation Park (irradiation of food items) in the
government sector in the state.

Expressing
happiness over the initiative being taken by the government level Bhabha Atomic
Research Center for transfer of technology from cow dung to power generation
and food irradiation plant in Chhattisgarh, he said that this would help the
farmers of the state to get more benefits of their produce.

While
transferring an amount of Rs. 3.93 crore online to cow dung sellers, Gauthan
committees, and women self-help groups under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, at his
residence office today, he congratulated the cattle owners, Gauthan committees, and the women of the group. He directed to purchase cow dung from the cattle
rearing villagers of the villages dependent on the Gauthans.

Chief
minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the work of service and protection of Gaumata
is being done in the state through the establishment of Gauthans in villages
and through the Godhan Nyay Yojana. The cattle owners of all villages should
get the benefit of selling cow dung under the scheme, for this, arrangements
should be ensured to procure cow dung from the people of dependent villages in
Gauthans. He appealed to the farmers for donating paddy stubble for cattle
fodder in Gauthans. He also gave necessary instructions to the officers
regarding the arrangement of green fodder in Gauthans. He said that harvesting
of green fodder has been done by the forest department.

At
the beginning of the program, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamal Preet
Singh gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding the progress of Godhan Nyay
Yojana. He said that the first food irradiation plant in the state of
Chhattisgarh would be set up by the government. He said that the technology of
food irradiation plants has been recognized in many countries of America and
Europe. The food items of the food irradiation plant to be set up in
Chhattisgarh will be directly supplied to foreign countries.
