Baghel alleges Centre of denying taking parboiled rice from Chhattisgarh
Raipur:
In yet another attack on the Centre, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on
Wednesday said that the Central government is not procuring parboiled rice from
Chhattisgarh in the central pool.
Baghel
said that the Chhattisgarh government had made repeated requests to the Jute
Commissioner of India to provide 5 lakh gathan gunny bags. Gunny bag crisis is
created in the state due to Central government, he said.
The
Central government has not permitted to procure parboiled rice from
Chhattisgarh. Further, the Central government is discriminating against
Chhattisgarh on the paddy bonus issue.
Baghel
said that his predecessor Dr. Raman Singh had once given a bonus to the farmers of
the state, but no question was raised during that time. When Congress came
to power in Chhattisgarh, the Central government is making excuses by raising such
points and trying to affect paddy procurement, Baghel alleged.
On
Dr. Raman Singh’s allegations of gunny bags, Baghel said that the previous BJP
government had procured around 60 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during its rule
but the Congress government procured 92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy last year.
Dr. Raman Singh should try to convince BJP National President Jagat Prakash
Nadda over the farmers’ issue.
Baghel
said that he has appealed to the central government to ban international flights
from those countries where a new Covid variant has been detected. The passengers
coming from the foreign countries where new Covid variant has been detected
should be examined and kept in quarantine or home quarantine to prevent the
spread of new Covid variant infection, he said.
Chhattisgarh
received the first Covid case migrated from the United Kingdom. Had the center banned
the international flights, the country could not face such a situation, Baghel
added.
