77 persons taken ill after consuming street food

Seventy-seven persons, including 57 children, were taken ill after taking street food from a cart in a weekly market of Thelkadih’s Gatapaar Kala in Rajnandgaon district. All were admitted to Pendri Medical College Hospital for primary treatment. As per sources, 26 people were discharged while others are undergoing treatment and reported out of danger.
According to information, after a few hours of returning home after having street food, many complained of pain in the abdomen and started vomiting. When a large number of people fell ill, a health team reached the village and rushed all to Pendri Medical College Hospital.
After getting information, Collector Taran Prakash Sinha reached Pendri Medical College Hospital and enquired about those who fell ill. The Collector was accompanied by Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Mithlesh Chaudhary. Besides, a health team and SDM reached the village and took an update of people’s health there.
According to CMHO Dr Mithlesh Chaudhary, 77 people, including 57 children, complained of pain in the abdomen and vomiting after consuming street food at the weekly market. Twenty-six people were discharged while others will be discharged soon, and there was nothing serious in this.
