Raipur:Minister Ravindra Choubey said that the project is included in the financial year 2021-22,work will start after administrative approval.

Bilaspur City MLA Shailesh Pandey raised the issue of Ahiran Kharang Link Project and Chhapra Tola Project in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Monday. In response, Parliamentary Affairs and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said in the House that AhiranKharang Link Project  (Water augmentation project from Ahiran to Gajara Nala) is proposed on Ahiran river. The project is included in the the financial year 2021-22 and the Chhapra Tolaproject is proposed near Khongsara in Bilaspur, is also included in the financial year 2021-22.

MLA Pandey said in the Assembly that the previous government had started the AmritMission scheme in Bilaspur but it is half-finished. Big announcements were made and dreams were served to the people. But they did not do any work, but the Congress government has promised the people to complete these projects, Pandey said.

Minister Choubey said that the state government had made provision for both these projects in the budget. Both the projects have been approved in the meeting of FIC and awaiting administrative approval. The estimated cost of Kharang Ahiran project is Rs 720 crore. It has a water storage capacity of 46 million cubic metres. Out of this, 31 million cubic meters has been reserved for Bilaspur.

 

Chhapra Tola Project is aimportant projectfrom environmental front as well as water storage. 

This project will benefit the holy Arpa river. The project will provide water to ArpaThis project has also been approved by FIC  and is waiting for administrative approval. The project cost has been estimated at Rs 968 crore. 30 million cubic meters of water will be available in the dam that will be built in the Arpa riverand 37 million cubic meters in the Matti Nala. The total capacity is 67.77 million cubic meters. With this, the Arpa river will always remain filled with water throughout the year
