Chhattisgarh HC orders CBI probe into into the murder case of royal family member in Kawardha

Chhattisgarh High Court has ordered CBI probe into the murder case of a member of
royal family in Kawardha.

In
August 2021, the blood-soaked body of 57-year-old Vishwanath Nair’s father VN
Nair was found at Yogeshwar Raj Farm House. After investigation, the police
sent five accused youth from the village to jail. Family members including his
wife Jyoti Nair have alleged conspiracy to murder. The family has accused that his
own relative and former MLA Yogeshwar Raj and his wife Kriti Devi Singh of giving supari
to kill him. A complaint was filed with the local police initially and then to
the state government including the police headquarters.

The
wife has demanded a fair investigation in the murder case. When no action was
taken, a petition was filed in the High Court through advocate Saurabh Dangi praying
for a CBI probe into the matter. After hearing the case, the Single Bench of
Justice Rajani Dubey has issued orders to conduct a CBI inquiry into the
matter.

The
petitioner has alleged that the police have not taken seriously the murder in
the farmhouse of the Raj family. Fingerprints were not taken after checking
the car from which the iron rods were seized. Also, there was no investigation
on the possibility of giving supari for his murder.

The
petitioner’s advocate Saurabh Dangi told that Rajmata had prepared a will of
property in the name of daughters along with her son Yogeshwar. Also, there is
a property in the name of nephew Vishwanath. On the other hand, Yogeshwar Raj
has challenged the will in the court. This matter is still going on in court.
