Cong criticises Leader of Opposition for filing petition in HC challenging re-constitution of Jhiram Ghati Inquiry Commission

Raipur:Urban Administration and Development Department Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya on Saturday questioned the intention of Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik who filed a writ petition in High Court of Chhattisgarh, challenging the State government’s decision to re-constitute Jhiram Ghati Inquiry Commission for a fresh investigate into the Jhiram Ghati massacre.
The Minister told media that the BJP leader demanded to stop the judicial inquiry into the Jhiram Ghati massacre, in which 29 people, including top Congress leaders of Chahttisgarh, were killed by Maoists on May 25, 2013. Dahariya said that whom to these BJP leaders, including Kaushik and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, want to save in the case by challenging the commission.
Dr Dahariya said that the BJP has come up with another hurdle in the process of investigation.
Dr Dahriya asked whether the Leader of Opposition is afraid the truth to come out through the investigation by the new Commission and therefore he has filed a petition.
The Minister said that the report submitted by Jhiram GhatiJudicial Inquiry Commission headed by Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra was incomplete which, according to Dr Dahariya, had been accepted by Justice Mishra himself. As Justice Mishra was transferred before the investigation could begin. In such a situation, new appointments have been made in the commission to complete the investigation., said Dr Dahariya.
It is worth mentioning on May 28, 2013, the previous BJP government had constituted a judicial inquiry commission headed by Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra to investigate the Jhiram Ghati massacre. The report was submitted to the Governor Anusuiya Uikey on November 11, 2021. The Congress government has re-constituted the judicial inquiry commission with retired Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court Justice Sunil Agnihotri and Justice G Minhajuddin.
