CG Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charandas Mahant performs ‘kanyadan’ of his adopted daughter
Raipur: Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant married off his adopted daughter on Thursday. Congress MP Jyotsna Charandas Mahant was also present on the occasion.
The marriage took place on the land of Garh Lafa Mahishasur Mardini, which is included in the 36 forts of Chhattisgarh. The entire customs, rituals and traditions were performed by the Dr. Mahant and his wife.
Meanwhile, 24 years ago Saraswati was adopted by the then Home, Commercial Taxes and Public Relations Minister Dr. Charandas Mahant. Son Suraj Mahant was also present and fulfilled the duty of being brother.
In the marriage programme of Saraswati, the processions who arrived from village Pudu of Ratanpur in Bilaspur district were welcomed and received with great pomp. Dr. Charandas Mahant performed the ritual of meeting the father of the groom Nand Das, Bechan Das and the people of the groom’s side. Other relatives of Saraswati also followed this custom. All kinds of traditions and rituals were performed. For the villagers too, this marriage was no less than a surprise.
