Winter session of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly set to commence on December 19

Raipur The anticipation for the upcoming winter session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is gaining momentum as Deputy CM Vijay Sharma hinted at the sessions being scheduled from December 19 to 21. Speculations arise as the official notification for the session is expected to be released within the next two days. In a recent dialogue with the media, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma unveiled the potential agenda for the sessions, outlining customary procedures such as the swearing-in of legislators and speeches adhering to the standard assembly protocols. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, in alignment with officials, has agreed upon the imminent convening of the session. Discussions during the assembly might revolve around the allocation of ministers to various state departments, shedding light on critical issues that demand immediate attention. Emphasizing the pressing need for financial resources in the state, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma highlighted the urgency for a supplementary budget discussion, particularly focusing on providing housing for 18 lakh underprivileged individuals, a priority initiative spearheaded by the Chief Minister. These deliberations, along with decisions on forthcoming projects, are anticipated to transpire in the imminent cabinet meeting. Speaking on the formation of the cabinet in the new BJP government, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma clarified that the prerogative lies with the Chief Minister regarding the announcement. Anticipation looms as the cabinet announcement is expected shortly, though concerns regarding the timeline persist. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw indicated that the cabinet expansion announcement is imminent, affirming plans to convene the assembly and subsequently disclose details on the cabinet’s enlargement when the time is ripe. Sources suggest that CM Sai might confer on the cabinet with the high command in Delhi post the winter session on November 17, potentially signaling the appointment of ministers for the state’s departments post-session. Reassuring fair treatment for officers, CM Sai affirmed a bias-free environment. Non-performing officers will face repercussions while those excelling in their duties will find opportunities for advancement. Acknowledging the Congress’s internal discord among its MLAs, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma addressed the issue, emphasizing the need for introspection. He alluded to media reports raising concerns about the authenticity of allegations, highlighting the imperative for internal scrutiny. Sharma criticized the party, alleging a historical deviation from values where the pursuit of power became synonymous with amassing wealth. He advocated for a political landscape aimed at societal empowerment through ethical governance, lamenting the erosion of cultural values due to such practices.
