Over 2069 people have been given appointment on compassionate grounds in last 5 months

Raipur: Over 2069 eligible applicants of 44
departments have been given compassionate appointments during last 5 months on
the instructions of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Considering the circumstances due to the
Covid crisis, Baghel had slackened the rules and directed the departments to
take swift action in the cases of compassionate appointment. Subsequently,
applicants of 44 departments have benefited.

In the cabinet meeting held on May
18, 2021, under the chairmanship of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, the limit of
10 per cent has been relaxed till May 31, 2022, to provide compassionate
appointment on Grade-III posts.


This action taken by the departments as per the
instructions of the chief minister has brought relief not only to the families who
have lost family members to Covid-19 but also to the families who have been
waiting for compassionate appointment for many years. The highest number of
applicants i.e. 1293 people have been given compassionate appointment by the school
education department. Besides, 125 people have been given compassionate
appointment in home (police) department, 107 in public health and family
welfare department, 101 in forest and climate change department, 75 in energy
department, 51 in revenue and disaster management department, 43 in higher
education department, livestock development department compassionate
appointments have been given to 33 applicants, 28 in tribal and scheduled caste
development department, 27 in public works department, 29 beneficiaries have
been given compassionate appointment in water resources department.

Similarly, 17 beneficiaries have got
appointment on compassionate grounds in agriculture and farmers welfare
(operation agriculture), 16 in public health engineering department, 16 in
skill development, technical education and employment, 16 in commercial tax
(excise) department, 13 in finance department, food and civil supplies and
consumers 10 in protection department, 10 in general administration department,
seven in mineral resources department, six in women and child development
department, six in law and legislative affairs department, five in commerce and
industry department, five in cooperation department, five in Gramudyog
department, five in fisheries department, five in medical education department,
four in housing and environment department, three in social welfare department,
two in commercial tax department, two in transport department, one in
commercial tax (registration) department, one in tourism department, one applicant
in culture department and one applicant in Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha
secretariat has been provided compassionate appointment.
