CG Govt making efforts to find birth date of Mata Kaushalya, CM seeks help from historians and experts

Raipur: Chhattisgarh
government is making consistent efforts to find date of birth of Mata Kaushalya—mother
of Lord Rama. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has sought help from historians,
experts and religious leaders in this regard. It is believed that Kaushalya was
the princess of South Kosala. This is the same region which is now called as ‘Chhattisgarh’.

Baghel who attended swearing-in ceremony of Sarva Brahmin Samaj organized at
Vipra Vatika in Balodabazar and held discussion related to Mata Kaushalya and
Lord Ram. He called upon the historians, experts and religious leaders to find
out the date of birth of Mata Kaushalya. He said that the state government will
provide all possible help in this regard.

The initiative started from
Dudhadhari Math in 2019. A cash prize of Rs 11 lakh and a certificate of honor
was announced for best guesser of Mata Kaushalya’s date of birth. It was
planned that a jury will examine the entries received. On the basis of that,
the date of birth of Mata Kaushalya will be declared by fixing a universal
date. However, due to Covid-19 pandemic and other reasons, this could not be happened
yet.

Date of birth is not
mentioned in any book

It is being told that
the details of Mother Kaushalya’s date of birth are not available in any text
related to Ram Katha. The government feels that somewhere there will be a
mention of mother Kaushalya’s birth or her date of birth. Scholars say that for
this the motherhood of Lord Rama’s horoscope can also be made the basis.

It is said that Mata Kaushalya
was born in Chandrakhuri, 25 km away from Raipur. A temple has been established
in the place having a statue of Kaushalya holding Lord Rama in his lap. Last
year itself, the state government has renovated this temple under the Ram
Vanagaman Path tourism circuit project.
