Chhattisgarh gears up for Legislative Assembly Elections 2023, First Phase Nomination Filing Concludes with 253 Eligible Candidates

Chhattisgarh is abuzz with political activity as the state’s Legislative Assembly Election of 2023 kicks off. In the first phase, candidates vying for 20 assembly constituencies have completed the nomination process. Out of a total of 294 nominations submitted by October 20, a rigorous review resulted in 253 candidates being found eligible for the election.
The diverse constituency distribution includes 14 candidates in Antagarh, 15 in Bhanupratappur, 10 in Kanker, 10 in Keshkal, 10 in Kondagaon, 9 in Narayanpur, 8 in Bastar, 13 in Jagdalpur, 7 in Chitrakoot, 7 in Dantewada, 10 in Bijapur, and 9 in Konta.
Candidates who have made the cut are now gearing up for a rigorous election campaign. The state is set for the first phase of voting on November 7, with the results to be declared on December 3. Candidates, however, have until October 23 to reconsider and withdraw their nominations should they choose to do so.
\Second Phase Nominations Open for 70 Constituencies
The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election of 2023 is moving forward as the notification for the second phase has been issued today. This phase covers 70 assembly constituencies, and prospective candidates have until October 30 to submit their nomination papers. On the first day of nominations, five candidates took the initiative, submitting their papers in constituencies across the regions of Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, and Sarguja.
These 70 constituencies span various areas, including Bharatpur-Sonhat, Manendragarh, Baikunthpur, Premnagar, Bhatgaon, Pratappur, Ramanujganj, Samri, Lundra, Ambikapur, Sitapur, Jashpur, Kunkuri, Pathalgaon, Lailunga, Raigarh, Sarangarh, Kharsia, Dharmjaygarh, Ramapur, Korba, Katghora, Pali-Tanakhar, Marwahi, Kota, Lormi, Mungeli, Takhatpur, Bilha, Bilaspur, Beltara, Masturi, Akaltara, Janjgir-Champa, Sakati, Chandrapur, Jaijaipur, Pamgarh, Saraipali, Basna, Khallari, Mahasamund, Bilaigarh, Kasdol, Balodabazar, Bhatapara, Dharsiwa, Raipur Gramin, Raipur Nagar Pashchim, Raipur Nagar Uttar, Raipur Nagar Dakshin, Arang, Abhanpur, Rajim, Bindranawagarh, Sihawa, Kurud, Dhamtari, Sanjari Balod, Dondi Lohara, Gundardehi, Patan, Durg Gramin, Durg Shahar, Bhilai Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, Ahivara, Saja, Bemetara, and Navagadh Assembly constituencies.
Candidates will have until October 30 to submit their nominations, with the scrutiny of nominations set to take place on October 31. The last date for withdrawing nominations is November 2, followed by voting in the second phase on November 17. The counting of votes for both phases is scheduled for December 3, 2023. The state is gearing up for a robust democratic exercise as the election season unfolds.
