Police have lodged an FIR against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Uttar Pradesh. The Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration has filed a case against him for violation of the Code of Conduct and Epidemic Act. Bhupesh Baghel had gone to the villages of Noida region to campaign for Congress candidate Pankhuri Pathak. The Deputy Election Officer of Noida Assembly Constituency and the Deputy District Magistrate of Dadri Tehsil have registered a report in Sector 113 police station of Noida.

 

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had reached Delhi on Saturday evening. On Sunday, he went door-to-door in Barola, Silarpur, Sorkha, Behlolpur and Jalpura of Gautam Buddha Nagar and sought votes for the Congress candidate. Informed the people about the promises of the Congress party. He was accompanied by Congress candidate Pankhuri Pathak and local Congress leaders.

The Election Commission has banned rally-processions and public meetings etc. in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. According to the guideline, only a group of five people in a party can campaign from door to door. The administration has said in its FIR that more people were involved in the campaign along with Bhupesh Baghel.

 

Talking to reporters during the campaign, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, other people are either doing politics in the name of caste or “politics of religion. Apart from Congress, no one is talking about common people. Taking everyone along from youth, farmers, women to backward communities.

Elections to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly are being conducted in 7 phases. Starting from West Uttar Pradesh. Polling for 58 seats here is to be held on February 10, this includes the Noida assembly. Voting in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 14, February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3 and March 7.
