RaipurChhattisgarh Congress Communication Department’s head, Sushil Anand Shukla, launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, accusing him of running a government based on lies and deception for 15 years and consistently failing to fulfill promises. The Congress party presented a comprehensive report card on promises made during the previous state assembly elections, highlighting their commitment to delivering on their manifesto pledges. The Congress party has claimed that out of the 36 promises outlined in their manifesto, they have successfully fulfilled 34 promises, while acknowledging that two promises related to liquor prohibition and Lokpal are still in progress. This assertion comes as a direct response to Raman Singh’s recent statement, where he alleged that Congress had only fulfilled 19 promises. As evidence of their commitment to transparency, the Congress party plans to send a copy of their manifesto to Raman Singh, along with the BJP’s resolutions from 2003, 2008, and 2013, to show a sharp contrast between their dedication to fulfilling promises and the alleged shortcomings of the opposition. One of the significant achievements highlighted by Shukla was the state’s successful efforts to curb alcohol consumption. Due to the stringent measures implemented by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel government, Chhattisgarh has dropped from its previous top position in alcohol consumption during Raman Singh’s tenure to the 18th position today. The commitment to fulfilling manifesto promises was evident from the outset of Bhupesh Baghel’s term as Chief Minister, as he prioritized waiving off farmers’ loans, a policy that has been consistently upheld for an uninterrupted five years.
