No officials came to receive family of martyrs who returned to Raipur after receiving award from the president, BJP leader intervened, sent them home in his car

Raipur: CRPF Jawan Purnanand Sahu was killed while fighting for the people of the state in the forests of Naxal-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. President of India Ram Nath Kovind honored ‘Shaurya Chakra’ posthumously to Purnanand at a function organized in Delhi. His mother received the award. When the martyr’s family including his mother reached Raipur airport on Thursday, neither the administrative nor the CRPF officers came to receive them.
They did not even have a car to return home. The office bearers of the ex-servicemen organization have strongly opposed this as some officials of the district administration and CRPF were informed about this but no one came. BJP leader Gauri Shankar Srivas sent the family of the martyr to their home village Jangalpur in Rajnandgaon district in his car.

A spokesman from Ex-Servicemen Organization said Shaurya Chakra is not a small thing. We are retired from army and understand its importance, so we reached here to welcome the martyr’s mother. CRPF or administrative officers should also have come. We can do so much to encourage the family of a martyr; after all, he sacrificed his life for the people of Chhattisgarh.
