The Centre has stopped more than 40 passenger trains passing through Chhattisgarh. More than 10 lakh people are facing inconveniences because of it. The Central Government has not clarified the status with the Member Parliaments. They were told that the passenger train was cancelled to speed up the transportation of coal. Rail service will be restored if the situation improves.BJP MP from Rajnandgaon Santosh Pandey said, “Continuous talks are going on with the central government in this regard. There are reasons for the closure of the train. Very soon the closed trains will start.” BJP MP from Bilaspur Arun Saw said, “I am in constant touch with the Ministry of Railways. They are aware of the problems that people are facing. As soon as the situation becomes normal, the train service will get restored one by one.
At present, no one is in a position to give a definite timeline for the restoration of rail service.Meanwhile, BJP MP from Durg, Vijay Baghel has also suggested some alternatives during the meeting with the Union Railway Minister. He said, “I had met the Union Railway Minister regarding this. I have told him that if you earn more from the freight, then first pass those trains. Run passenger and express trains at that time later. He has accepted the suggestion. Soon this problem will get resolved.”Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel spoke to Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav after the information about the cancellation of trains last month. The Chhattisgarh government had lodged an official objection by writing a letter to the chairman of the Railway Board. After that, an order was issued to resume six trains. Later, orders were issued to keep some more trains closed till June. The operation of those trains has now been stopped.Three hundred forty three express and Local trains run through Bilaspur Zone of South East Central Railway. The government had stopped them during the pandemic. Later gradually, some trains were started as special trains. Most of the trains were restored after the covid infection was controlled. But 87 trains passing through Chhattisgarh have not started yet. At the same time, more than 40 trains have been cancelled for coal transport in the last three months. Out of these, more than 36 are cancelled till June.
