Chhattisgarh’s herbal gulal going international with gulal being exported to Europe

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday flagged off a truck loaded with herbal gulal prepared in Chhattisgarh in a programme organized at his residence office in Raipur. This herbal gulal being exported to Europe has been prepared by the women of self-help group Sakhi Cluster Organization Anjora Rajnandgaon and Kumkum Mahila Gram Sangathan Sankara, Durg with their dedication and hard work under the guidance of Shree Ganesha Global Gulal Pvt Ltd. Nearly 23 thousand kg of herbal gulal worth Rs 41.95 lakh is being exported to Europe. 

Meanwhile, as per the directions of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, various income-generating activities are being conducted in Gauthans with an aim to make rural women self-reliant. Cultivation of flowers, especially marigold flowers, has been started in the community gardens of Gauthans to provide additional income to women groups. On February 18, 2022, an MoU was inked between Shri Ganesha Global Gulal Private Limited and the Directorate of Horticulture and Farm Forestry, Government of Chhattisgarh for the preparation of herbal gulal from flowers in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. In its first phase, herbal gulal and herbal puja materials are being prepared through 150 women self-help groups. 23 thousand 279 kg herbal gulal prepared by women SHGs will be sent from Raipur to Mundra port in Gujarat for export to Europe in collaboration with Shri Ganesha Global Gulal Pvt Ltd. This herbal gulal is worth 54 thousand 491 US dollars i.e. Rs 41 lakh 95 thousand 302. It is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh that the herbal products made by women SHGs in Gauthans are being exported to foreign countries.
