Chhattisgarh: Road repair work is being done on a ‘war footing’

Raipur: The work of repair and restoration of pothole-riddled roads across the state is being completed on a war footing. The repair and restoration of roads has ensured the smooth flow of vehicular traffic across the state, said a government release.

In this series, an amount of Rs 55.39 crore was sanctioned for repair work of a total of 96 roads (327 km length)–constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and more than 5 years old–in the Bilaspur district.

After receiving approval as per the instructions of the chief minister, the department has started the work of repairing and restoration of roads in all the development blocks of Bilaspur district on a war footing. So far, the renovation work of 21 roads has been completed. The repair work of all remaining rural roads is in progress and will be completed at the earliest.

Bilaspur Public Works Department Executive Engineer said that the repair and restoration work of all remaining roads will be completed by March next year. The residents of the area are overwhelmed with the repair and renovation of the roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. They have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Baghel for this.

Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Bilaspur Project Circle Superintending Engineer Shri Sanjay Sharma said that an amount of about Rs 160 crore has been approved for the repair and restoration of a total of 352 roads (1258 km length) under Bilaspur, Mungeli, Korba, and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi districts. Under this, repair work has been started in all the districts. All the contractors concerned have been instructed to complete the repair work without compromising the quality compulsorily before March next year.
