Chhattisgarh honored as an ‘Aspiring Leader’ in India’s start up circuit

Raipur: The industry-friendly policies of Chhattisgarh have once again been appreciated by the Central Government. A state-wise Startup Ranking was announced today by the Central Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. In a programme organized in New Delhi, Chhattisgarh was honored as an aspiring leader for the development of startup ecosystem in the state by union commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal.

Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and industry minister Kawasi Lakhma have congratulated the officers and employees of the Industries Department for this achievement.

Three officers of Chhattisgarh including, Commerce and Industry Special Secretary Anurag Pandey, Additional Director Industries Praveen Shukla, and Assistant Director Suman Devangan were honored by the union minister for their special contribution in the startup sector.

Meanwhile, under Chhattisgarh’s present Industrial Policy of 2019-24,Special startup Package has been implemented to benefit the commencement of startup units. A total of 748 startups are registered in the state till date. In the citation given to Chhattisgarh as an  aspiring leader, it has been mentioned that many commendable initiatives have been taken by the Chhattisgarh government to encourage startups throughout the state.

The establishment of Startup Policy, provision of tax exemption and grant for startups and establishment and up-gradation of incubators are the major initiatives taken by the state government to promote start up culture in the state. Provisions have been made for co-working space, mentorship programmes, funding and technology support for startups through incubators.

Under the Industrial Award Scheme, a provision has been made to give awards in the startup category. Provision has been made for the first, second and third prizes of Rs 1,51,000, Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 51,000 respectively along with a citation.
