Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel wrote a letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw requesting to approve the implementation of option-1 after partial modification in the Katghora-Dongargarh rail project. He said that this project will not be just in the interest of Chhattisgarh but also for the country.

Referring to the letter dated June 28, 2021 of the Ministry of Railways, the Baghel stated that the state government gave their consent with modified alignment for the implementation of Option-1 mentioned in the test/survey report on March 23, 2022. However, the state government has not received any message/correspondence regarding the action being taken by the Government of India in this regard.

He said that “I would also like to bring your attention to the fact that the alignment of the survey conducted by South-East Central Railway in the year 2015 has also been with Option-1. It is pertinent to mention here that, since the above project is to be implemented under Public Private Partnership (PPP), the feasibility of the project is required to be based on Public-Private integrity. As per the feasibility report, even after the above modification in the alignment, the project is feasible.”
