Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said now the Governor should sign the Bill as the state government has sent the answers.

Raipur

Chhattisgarh government has replied to the ten questions raised by Governor Anusuiya Uikeyover the 76% reservation bill pending for Raj Bhawan’s approval since it was passed by the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly on December 2 during a special session of the House.

The Chhattisgarh government has brought this amendment bill raising the overall reservation of the state to 76 per cent including 32 per cent for STs, 27 per cent for OBCs, 13 per cent for SCs and 4 per cent for EWS general categories.

The tug of war between the Raj Bhawan and the State government began when the Governor questioned the ground of the bill. It may be mentioned, Chhattisgarh high court has reduced the reservation for STs to 20 per cent from 32 per cent during the hearing of a petition in October this year. Since then, opposition BJP has been slamming the ruling Congress for its failure to protect the interest of the tribal communities of Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that Governor Anusuiya Uikey should sign the amendment bill as soon as possible.

Talking to the media on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that government has sent the answers to the questions raised by the Raj Bhawan even though there is no such provision in the Constitution and now the Governor should not delay in signing on the reservation bill.

A delegation of Congress tribal MLAs met the Governor two days back. During the meeting, the legislators demanded the signing of the reservation bills. In response, Governor Anusuiya Uikey had handed over the list of 10 questions and said that if the answers are received from the government, it would be signed.

Under the leadership of Tribal Development and School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, a team of tribal MLAs of Congress had reached the Raj Bhavan. Most of the MLAs were from Surguja division and central region. Only Shishupal Shori and Savitri Mandavi from Bastar region were included in the delegation.

During his statement, the Chief Minister also said that all the proceedings of the VidhanSabha are transmitted to the Raj Bhawanthrough a speaker. Sitting there, the officer or the governor can listen to the whole action.
