BJP candidate Bramhanand Netam detained by Jharkhand police?


An hour after polling to the Bhanupratappur byelection ,held for the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly on Monday, Jharkhand police reportedly detained BJP candidate Bramhanand Netam. It was also learnt that Jharkhand High Court has also stayed the forceful arrest of BJP candidate. Meanwhile, news is coming that Jharkhand Police has reached Kanker again to arrest Brahmanand. 

It may be recalled, Jharkhand police had camped for two-three days in Kanker after the scrutiny for the by-poll was over. Amidst threat of his arrest, Netam continued his campaigning for the poll. In the meantime, Jharkhand police put notice at Netam’s residence.

Netam has been named by the Jharkhand police in a case registered with Telco police of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand under POCSO Act. The case was registered in connection with gang-rape of a 15-year-old girl in the year 2019. 

Congress state president Mohan Markam had revealed the matter before the by-poll triggering war of words, allegation and counter allegations between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP. 

It may be mentioned, Savitri Mandavi, wife of former deputy speaker late Manoj Mandavi, is contesting the by-poll on Congress ticket.
