Bishwabhushan Harichandan to be new Governor of Chhattisgarh

A day after BJP’s National President JP Nadda’s visit to Chhattisgarh, Governor Anusuiya Uikey has been shifted to Manipur and Biswabhushan Harichandan, who was the governor of Andhra Pradesh, has been made the new governor of Chhattisgarh. Harichandanhas also served as Odisha BJP president.

The changes began with the resignation of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and LadakhLieutenant Governor Radhakrishna Mathur. Koshyariand Mathur had resigned a few days ago. 

The President has accepted their resignation. Ramesh Bais, who was the Governor of Jharkhand, has been made the Governor of Maharashtra in place of Koshyari. Lt General Kaivalya Trivikram Parnaik, Laxman Prasad Acharya, C P Radhakrishnan and retired justice S Abdul Nazir have been made Governors of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

Gulab Chand Kataria, the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Rajasthan, has been made the Governor of Assam. On the other hand, veteran leader of Uttar Pradesh Shiv Pratap Shukla has been made the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. 

LA Ganesan, who was the Governor of Manipur, has been made the Governor of Nagaland. Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan has been sent to Meghalaya. Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has been made the Governor of Bihar. At the same time, Brigadier BC Mishra will now be the LieutenantGovernor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. Brigadier Mishra was till now the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has welcomed the appointment of the new Governor. Former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh wrote  Vishwabhushan ji is welcomed on the holy land of Chhattisgarh. 

Harichandan was made the Governor of Andhra Pradesh in July 2019 along with Anusuiya Uikey as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. 

Harichandan, born on August 3, 1934, is now 88 years old. He joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1971. He was the General Secretary of Odisha from Jana Sanghtill the formation of Janata Party. After the formation of the BJP in 1980, he was made the president of the Odisha unit. He remained the President of BJP till 1988. After that he joined Biju Janata Dal. In 1996, he again returned to BJP. Harichandan has been an MLA for five times. For the first time in the Janata wave, in 1977, he won the elections from Chilka seat. He also represented the Bhubaneswar Central seat. He was also a minister in the BJP-BJD coalition government. Harichandan has also written many important books on Paika Rebellion of Odisha including many.
