64.86% voting till 3 pm in Bhanupratappur by-election

64.86 per cent polling has been recorded till 3 pm on Monday in the BhanupratappurAssembly by-poll, the constituency in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Kanker district. The total polling percentage includes 62.86 per cent males and 66.75 per cent female voters.

BJP candidate Bramhanand Netam exercised his franchise by casting his vote in his home village Kaswahi along with his wife after taking blessings from Sheetla Mata while Congress candidate Savitri Mandavi, wife of former assembly deputy speaker late Manoj Mandaviwhose sad demise led to the byelection in the constituency, exercised her franchise by reaching the polling booth at 7 am along with several party workers.

It is noteworthy that one lakh 95 thousand 822 voters are enrolled in the constituency. These include 95 thousand 266 male voters, one lakh 555 female voters and one third gender voter. Voting for the by-election has started at 7 am and continued till 3 pm.

A total of 256 polling stations were set up for the Bhanupratappur assembly by-election. Out of these, 82 polling stations were Naxalitesensitive and 17 polling stations were highly Naxalite sensitive. 

The number of politically sensitive polling stations was 23. 256 polling teams were constituted for the smooth conduct of polling.
