Strict action to be taken against the sale of illegal, raw and adulterated liquor

Excise Department will launch an intensive campaign in Chhattisgarh to stop the
sale of illegal and raw liquor. Moreover, strict action will be taken against
those selling adulterated liquor in the state. It is noteworthy that Excise
Minister Kawasi Lakhma has directed the officials concerned to take strict
action against the sale of illicit liquor. On his instructions, today the Secretary
of Excise Department Niranjan Das chaired a meeting of the departmental officers
and directed them to take strict action in such cases and put an end to the sale of
illicit and adulterated liquor in the state. He said that if the involvement of
departmental officers and employees is found in these works, strict action
would be taken against them as well.

the meeting, Excise Secretary also had a discussion with the officials on
increasing the revenue of the Department. He said that country-foreign liquor
shops should be composited. Similarly, stock of the respective brand should be
kept in these shops according to the demand. FIR should be lodged in cases of
adulterated liquor and overrating and the employee/official found accountable
should be suspended. Strict action will also be taken against the officers,
found negligent towards taking action in these cases.

his address to the officers at the meeting, Excise Secretary Niranjan Das
directed them to take effective measures for the prevention of illegal liquor
transport from other states to Chhattisgarh. Officials were also directed to
keep a check on the border districts of the state. He also directed to increase
the number of check posts in coordination with the local police officers. He
said that the liquor brought from other states hidden in passenger and
transport vehicles should also be monitored.

the meeting, Excise Secretary informed that a laboratory has been set up for
testing the quantity of poisonous content in the illegal, raw and adulterated
liquor. Laboratory test reports of the liquor should be compulsorily attached
while registering the cases of illicit liquor. In the meeting, Special
Secretary of Excise Department and Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State
Marketing Corporation Limited A.P. Tripathi, Additional Commissioner R.S.
Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Ashish Srivastava, P.S. Sahu along with the
officers from districts across the state were present.
