Raipur:State Government has urged Coal India to allot coal from SECL mines to Chhattisgarh based industries instead of Mahanadi Coal Fields. A letter has been written by the Department of Commerce and Industry to the General Manager (S&M) of Coal India in this regard.
Presently coal is being allocated to Chhattisgarh based industries from Mahanadi Coal Field (MCL), while the state government gives priority to allocation of coal from SECL. The letter reads that SECL is a company based in Chhattisgarh. The allocation of coal from SECL will facilitate transportation and also reduce the cost, which will make coal cheaper for the industries. Coal India has also been requested to take a decision in this regard at the earliest.
It has been informed through the letter that Chhattisgarh Steel Re-Rollers Association has been nominated as an additional state agency for allocation of coal by the State Government. The agency has also requested SECL to allocate coal. It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation has been nominated as State Agency and Chhattisgarh Steel Re-Rolls Association as Additional State Agency for the year 2020-21 and 2021-22 by the State Government. The State Government has recommended to Coal India to allocate one lakh metric tonnes of coal annually for the industries of Chhattisgarh.
