State government imposes restrictions on New Year’s celebrations, Restricts social, religious and other mass gatherings to only upto one-third capacity

Chhattisgarh government has imposed restrictions on social, religious and other
mass gatherings amid corona’s new variant omicron threat and spike in Covid-19
cases across the state.

As
a measure to curb spreading of the deadly virus infection, the state government
has issued fresh guidelines on Thursday restricting gatherings in religious,
sports, social and all other types of events to only upto one-third of the
venue capacity. Now the gatherings in New Year’s celebration events have been
limited to only one-third of the capacity which was earlier 50 per cent.

An
order to this effect has been issued in this regard today by the General
Administration Department, Government of Chhattisgarh. As per the order issued,
it is mandatory to obtain written permission from the District Collector or
District Magistrate concerned prior to organizing the programme or meetings
with more than 200 attendees. All the Divisional Commissioners, Inspector Generals
of Police, Collectors and Superintendents of Police have been asked to ensure
strict compliance of these instructions.
