Stampede in Piperchedi paddy procurement center, 17 women injured

Raipur:
As many as 17 women were injured after getting crushed by a mob trying to
push through the entrance of a paddy procurement center to get their tokens for selling their paddy during paddy procurement by the state government which is
going to commence across the state from December 1.

The
incident happened in Piperchedi paddy procurement center of Balod district early
in the morning when a mob made their way to get their tokens crushing the
women. Soon after receiving information, the district collector has issued
instructions to immediately remove the committee manager of the center.

The
state government will start paddy procurement across the state next month for
which tokens are being issued in all the paddy procurement centers. A large
number of people reached Piperchedi paddy procurement center at 11 in the
morning to get their tokens. Soon after the opening of gates, the mob pushed through
the entrance crushing women present there. Even some elderly have become
victims.  

The
injured women were rushed to a nearby hospital. District collector Janmejay
Mahobe reached the incident spot soon after getting news of the incident. He
has instructed the SDM to remove the committee manager.
