Rs 492.33 cr supplementary grant was presented in the House.Opposition stages walkout alleging that the tradition of the House has been broken.

Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant said that it is not happening for the first time when proceedings of the House continues after Governor’s address. It had happened before on January 11, 2010.

Raipur:Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday tabled the demand for the third supplementary grant 2021-22 in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly as Budget Session commenced with the opening address by Governor AnusuiyaUikey. 

The budget demand of Rs 492.33 crorewas presented in the House amidst chaos created by the Opposition which alleged the House of ‘insulting’ Governor. 

Chief Minister Baghel, who also holds the portfolio of Finance, tabled the budget amidst chaos created by the Opposition members. Discussion on the supplementary budget will be held on Tuesday. However, the Opposition members demanded more days for the discussion.  The Opposition also demanded the extension of the work days of the Assembly’s Budget Session keeping in view there is not constraint of Covid-19 and political commitment when elections in all the five states are over. The Speaker however did not agree with the Opposition members.

The Opposition members alleged that the House should have been adjourned after the opening address of the Governor, but the tradition was broken which is an insult to the Governor. The opposition also staged a walkout over the issue.

The Opposition demanded two-three days for discussion on the address of the Governor followed by more days for the discussion on the supplementary budget. The Speaker assured the opposition members that they will get adequate time for the discussion, but they kept on demanding for an announcement.

When speaker did not respond, the Opposition staged walkout from the House second before the House was adjourned till 11 am on Tuesday. The Speaker said that the House proceedings was continued on January 11, 2010 after the address of the Governor and this is not for the first time.
