Raipur police launches crackdown against Hookah parlors, CM says

Raipur: Soon after chief
minister Bhupesh Baghel announced a complete ban on hookah bars in the state, Raipur
police launched a crackdown on hookah bars in the city on Friday night.

Chairing a conference
of Superintendents of Police and Inspectors General of Police on Friday afternoon,
chief minister Bhupesh Baghel instructed that hookah bars should be completely
banned in the state.

During the crackdown, Police
raided four hookah bars in the Telibandha area, hundreds of hookahs were seized
overnight and action has been taken against bar operators.

According to police,
the team raided many cafes in the night with the arrangement of hookahs. All the
hookah pots were recovered by the police. The police also warned youth present
in cafes and parlors not to smoke the hookah pots again. Hookah bar operators
have also been instructed not to serve hookah in their places anymore. This
police action continued till late at night.

Meanwhile, chief minister
Bhupesh Baghel lauded the efforts of the Raipur police to make the city hookah-free.
Baghel re-tweeted a tweet of Raipur police on his official Twitter handle with
the caption “Well done Raipur Police”.
