Rahul Gandhi observed the operating of processing unit of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi

Raipur: MP Rahul Gandhi, while touring the stalls at the exhibition held at Science College Ground today, observed the operation of processing units for Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel informed Gandhi that a Millet Mission has been launched in the state to promote the farming of millet crops. Under this mission, Kodo-Kutki and Ragi crops are being procured from the farmers at support price. Moreover, millet producing farmers are also being provided an input subsidy of Rs 10 thousand per acre under Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana.

Millet procured at support price would be utilized under the nutritious meal programme and the midday meal programme conducted in anganwadis, to eradicate malnutrition. He informed that small processing units and packaging units are being established in the villages where millets are being produced. Services of the experts are being taken to provide technical guidance as well as good seeds for millet production. For this purpose, MoU has been signed between India Institute of Millet Research Hyderabad and 14 millet producing districts of the state. MP Rahul Gandhi appreciated the Millet Mission of Chhattisgarh.
