Raipur:Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday announced to revert to old pension scheme for its employees as Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel made the announcement during the presentation of State Budget for 2022-23 in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, bringing cheer on the faces of lakhs of government officials and employees who celebrated the occasion with much pomp and show. With it, Chhattisgarh has become the second state to restore the old pension scheme that was scrapped in April 1, 2004, and replaced with, in what could be termed, a market-driven pension scheme. The brain behind the restoration of the old pension scheme was said to be Congress MP RahulGandhi. It is to be recalled, the old pension scheme was done away with in December 2003 by the Central government. The National Pension Scheme had come as a substitute of the old pension scheme in April, 2004.
