As many as nine masked men conducted home invasion and robbery in broad
daylight at a Congress leader’s house in Bilaspur district. They took women,
children, and drivers hostage at knife point and broke three almirahs and ran
away with goods worth Rs 5 lakh including cash, gold and silver jewellery.
After the incident, the IG, SSP rushed the spot and further inspection is
per police sources, Congress leader Tekeshwar Patle, resident of Darrighat
Karra Road adjoining the city, also does farming and land buying and selling.
On Thursday morning, he along with Congress leader Nagendra Rai had gone to the
Ashtmukhi temple. His wife Ranjana Patle and sister-in-law Sukrita Patle were
at home. At least seven masked men entered the house at around 11:30 in the
morning. They forcibly dragged the sister-in-law out of the kitchen holding her
throat. They forcibly asked key to the cupboard.
driver Nitesh Nayak, a resident of Devrikhurd, took two children of Patle home
from tuition. The dacoits locked the three children in a room, broke three
cupboards, and ran away with goods worth Rs 5 lakh including three and a half
lakh cash, gold, and silver jewelry. Patle rushed home after giving information
about the robbery to Masturi police. As soon as the information was received,
IG Ratanlal Dangi, SSP Parul Mathur, Additional SP Rohit Jha, Girma Dwivedi,
Cyber Cell, Forensic Expert reached the spot along with search dogs. The
police have started looking for the dacoits after taking information from the
soon as the information of the robbery was received, blockades have been made
in the major square squares and rural areas of the city. Further investigations
are underway, said the police.
