Mayaram Surjan Kanya Vidyalaya will be the first Swami Atmanand Hindi Medium School in the state : CM Bhupesh Baghel

Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel announced to develop Mayaram Surjan Government
Girls Higher Secondary School in Choubey Colony, Raipur as a fully-equipped
school on the lines of Swami Atmanand English Medium School. This school will
be the first Swami Atmanand Hindi medium school in the state.

Chief
minister also announced the distribution of Bapu’s autobiography book ‘Satya Ke
Saath Mere Prayog’ (My Experiments with Truth) to the girl students of this
school. He was attending a programme organized in the school on the occasion of
Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. On the occasion, he released a book based
on the original works of the children of Swami Atmanand School, published by
SCERT. He felicitated the girl students who have excelled in tattoo art,
traditional toy making, and other works.

Speaking
about the personality and contribution of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi,
Chief Minister told the school children in detail about the journey of Bapu
from Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to Mahatma Gandhi. Addressing the children,
Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi, during his stay in South Africa,
protested against the injustice and oppression of British Government. In this
fight against injustice, he had to face all kinds of hardships but nothing
could deter him from his mission to protect the rights of people. Eventually,
British Government had to give in to Bapu’s perseverance. After returning from
South Africa, he visited India and studied the social, economic, and political
situation here, and continued his struggle for the rights of the people. Mahatma
Gandhi’s organizational power, his determination, his popularity among the
people compelled the British rulers to leave India.

He
said that the basic information about Mahatma Gandhi would be included in the
academic curriculum of classes 5th to 12th to make the new generation familiar
with the ideals and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. It is worth mentioning that
the inspiration for the Seva Gram to be established in Nava Raipur has been
taken from the Seva Gram located in Wardha, Maharashtra.

Chief
Minister said that centers of Gandhian principles, rural arts and crafts would
be developed in the proposed Seva Gram in Raipur, where subject-experts would
provide guidance. Moreover, old age homes and schools for the underprivileged
will also be established there. The objective behind the establishment of Seva Gram is
to empower the local people by promoting tourism opportunities as well as the
folk arts of Chhattisgarh, providing a second home to the elderly, and creating a
world-class system in Chhattisgarh for the exchange of ideas. The proposed
‘Visitors Centre’ at Seva-Gram will be a center for learning, living, and remembering
Gandhian principles.

Baghel
said that Chhattisgarh is known for its distinctive arts and crafts. In Bastar,
Raigarh, and other districts of Chhattisgarh, various artefacts are made using
bell metal, iron, terracotta, stone, cloth, and bamboo. Seva Gram will be a
place where visitors will be able to learn about local arts and crafts, local
cuisine. Seva Gram will also have an open theater where cultural programs will
be organized.
